Founded over twenty years ago, Organic Lighting has built a reputation for endurance and award-winning architectural lighting systems designed around our extensive range of flexible LEDs.
Organic Lighting offers unique, innovative lighting solutions, including FortaCast®, a drive-over inground fixture made from low-carbon polymer concrete. In addition to long, continuous lines of light, FortaCast® is highly customisable, allowing designers to create installations with curves, circles, squares, intersections, and logos.
FortaCast® also overcomes the traditional high cost and complexity of inground lighting, offering a straightforward and economical installation. Maintenance is as simple as changing a light bulb with intelligent engineering that enables 15 metres of encapsulated LED to slide in from a single point. Humans evolved in sensory-rich environments, guided by the fractal rhythms of nature and the open vistas of the savannah. Today, most of us spend 90% of our lives indoors, in flat environments shaped not by biology but by poor legislation. Flatness is violence to the senses. Boredom is the disease we’ve normalised. The World Health Organisation estimates stress costs the global economy £600bn each year — and light, our most influential stimulus, could be the antidote.
This session explores salutogenesis — saluting the genius of design — as a framework for creating health, not just avoiding harm. We’ll uncover the neuroscience of light, the lost sensory wealth of our evolution, and how zoning, colour, and fractal patterns restore curiosity and well-being. Alongside this, we’ll examine Part L: how efficiency-led codes erase quality and why we must fight for legislation that protects human-centric design.
PLATEK
Platek investigates the relationship between humans and the environment to improve quality of life through efficient and sustainable lighting, bringing the right quantity of light where needed in order to explore new ways of reviving residential spaces, to enhance the architecture, the historical and the cultural heritage of the area, and to create luminous landscapes in green areas.
Platek is an international company projected to innovate in the field of architectural and decorative outdoor lighting. The range of products includes integrated architectural lighting systems consisting of floor recessed concealed lighting, appliques, suspensions, projectors and posts. All these products have an optical systems with LED technology, managed internally by the company. The excellent know how of the Donati Group - to which Platek belongs - in metal casting allowed the company to design and realize increasingly compact and high-performance lighting fixtures, both in terms of luminous power and energy efficiency.
